Participation does not require payment during the selected six-month period.
There is no automatic subscription, renewal or requirement to purchase anything from DJS later.
Businesses are selected because DJS finds something worth investigating and discovering.
Participating businesses retain ownership of their brands and approved business materials.
Sensitive information is kept separate from information approved for publication or AI retrieval.
DJS does not charge participating businesses an affiliate commission on sales, reservations or contacts generated through this free initiative.

What kinds of businesses can participate?
Hidden Value is not limited to exportable products. It may include regional manufacturers, family businesses, artisans, B2B specialists, ryokan, restaurants, wagashi shops, workshops, local experiences, agricultural producers and other small Japanese businesses.
The important question is not whether something can be exported. The question is whether there is genuine value that may be difficult for people outside its immediate context to discover.
How does Discover Japan Sites AI use the information?
Approved information may be organized within the internal knowledge systems used by Discover Japan Sites AI.
This allows DJS AI to retrieve and use previously researched information when it is materially relevant to a reader’s question. Participation does not guarantee a fixed number of mentions. Relevance determines when the business should appear.
Can the business control what DJS writes?
Participating businesses can point out factual errors involving names, dates, specifications, locations, opening information, images or other verifiable facts.
Participation does not provide the right to require favorable conclusions, promotional language or editorial changes designed to manipulate independent DJS analysis.
Facts can be corrected. Editorial independence must remain.
What happens to confidential information?
Information intended for publication is kept separate from background information and confidential information.
Confidential information is not intentionally incorporated into public content or made available to readers through DJS AI without authorization.
What happens after the six months end?
The special free support period ends after six months. There is no automatic renewal and no obligation to purchase another DJS service.
Legitimate editorial content already created by Discover Japan Sites may remain available when it continues to be accurate, relevant and useful.
Ending the free program does not necessarily mean deleting useful knowledge from the DJS editorial archive.
Does DJS receive commissions from participating businesses?
No affiliate commission is charged to a participating business for sales, reservations or contacts generated through the free Hidden Value Initiative.
Discover Japan Sites may use third-party affiliate relationships elsewhere within its wider ecosystem. Where applicable, those relationships are disclosed separately and do not determine whether a business is selected for Hidden Value.
Selection is based on relevance, not commission.
A real opportunity. Not a commercial hook.
Hidden Value Initiative provides selected businesses with six months of free participation.
It is not a free trial that automatically converts into a paid product.
If visibility, visits, enquiries or sales occur during the free period, they do not create a retroactive debt to Discover Japan Sites.
The objective is simple: give hidden value its first window.
